Hearing Aids
An in-the-ear hearing aid is completely contained within the bowl of your ear. They can range from extremely tiny, invisible-in-the-canal hearing aids to larger, full-concha hearing aids.
During your appointment, we’ll explain the differences between both types of hearing devices and which options are best for you considering:
- Your hearing loss – the greater your hearing loss, the larger and more powerful the hearing aid needs to be to allow you to hear clearly
- Your ear canal shape and size – all-day comfort is important so we’ll look at the best option in terms of size to ensure a perfect fit
- The shape of the audiogram test – The audiogram test is conducted as part of your free hearing test and measures your hearing loss according to pitch
- Your dexterity – The controls and batteries on hearing aids are often very small so for people with arthritis or vision problems, larger hearing aids are often easier to use. Alternatively, there are now lots of rechargeable, in-the-ear hearing aid options which eliminate the need to charge batteries
