Real Adelaide Pensioners Share Their Stories

I went to Hearing Sense as I had a hearing aid from another provider that I was not comfortable wearing. Pavel was great! After a hearing test, he listened to my concerns and fitted me with trial hearing aids for 2 weeks. I was impressed with the range of hearing aids and price ranges available. They were incredibly comfortable compared with my previous experience. On review he adjusted them and arranged a further two fortnightly follow ups to ensure I was happy with them. It was only then that I was required to finalise payment for the purchase. Thank you Pavel for helping to make wearing hearing aids an enjoyable experience and allowing me to hear conversations clearly again.

Phil, Hearing Sense Client

Hi, my name is Beverley and I live in a retirement village in Paradise and getting older meant that my hearing was getting worse, I didn’t think so, until Kelly came to our village and gave a presentation on hearing and hearing aids so I decided to make an appointment. I was so impressed, I went along and the hearing in my left ear wasn’t good so I now wear a hearing aid. It’s great to wear, easy to fit and I can even change the batteries. It has made so much difference. Everything is so much clearer, even the tv is not up so loud. I am so grateful to Kelly and her team! I can ring anytime and get advice, make an appointment or even have batteries sent out to me. So don’t be afraid! You can even get ones to match your hair colour!

Frequently Asked Questions

Eligible pensioners pay nothing for hearing aids up to the government subsidy limit. If you choose premium features beyond the standard subsidy, we’ll clearly explain any additional costs upfront.
Most pensioners can complete their hearing assessment and receive hearing aids within 2-3 weeks. We handle all Hearing Services Program paperwork for you.
All repairs and maintenance are covered under the Hearing Services Subsidised Maintenance Program (which is mostly covered by HSP with a small annual fee).
That’s a very common concern—and you’re absolutely right to ask. The good news is, modern hearing aids are incredibly smart. They help you focus on the sounds you want to hear, like voices, while reducing background noise. It’s also completely normal for things to sound a bit different at first. It takes time for your ears—and your brain—to get used to hearing clearly again. That’s why we give you a full 30 days to try them out in your day-to-day life, and we’ll be here to adjust them as many times as you need. There’s no rush and no pressure—just friendly support to help you feel confident, comfortable, and in control.
We know that learning something new can feel overwhelming, which is why we take a very patient, step-by-step approach. During your fitting appointment, we’ll teach you everything at your own pace – how to put them in, take them out, clean them, and change batteries if needed. We’ll even write down simple instructions you can take home. And here’s the best part – you can call us anytime with questions, pop in for a quick refresher, or bring a family member to learn alongside you. We’re passionate about making sure you feel confident with your hearing aids!
Traditional batteries typically last between 3-10 days, depending on the model and how much you use your hearing aids. But here’s something many of our pensioner clients absolutely love – rechargeable hearing aids! They’re incredibly popular because you simply pop them in their charging case overnight, just like you might charge your mobile phone. No more fiddling with tiny batteries or worrying about running out at inconvenient times. During your appointment, we’ll show you both options and help you choose what feels most comfortable for your lifestyle and dexterity. Whatever you choose, we’ll make sure you feel completely confident managing your hearing aids.
As a family-owned Adelaide business, we genuinely care about every person who walks through our doors. We’re not pressured to sell specific brands – our only goal is finding the perfect hearing solution for YOU. We take the time to really listen to your concerns, understand your lifestyle, and explain everything in plain English. We also offer genuine choice of hearing aids from all manufacturers, so we can truly find what works best for your specific hearing needs. The entire team at Hearing Sense is passionate about helping you with your journey towards better hearing!
