Oticon

Oticon logo

Oticon’s mission was shaped by its founder Has Demant. He was a visionary whose wife Camilla suffered from hearing loss. Determined to improve her quality of life, Hans fitted Camilla with one of the world’s first electronic hearing aids. From this determination and foundation of care, Oticon has grown with a passion to empower people who need hearing support.

Hearing Sense is independently owned by another power couple, Kelly and Pavel. They have fitted many clients with Oticon hearing aids and experienced first-hand the quality of their products. Oticon’s custom-made hearing aids are built from components made in Europe and tailored to fit the wearer’s ears right here in Australia.

Clients who wear Oticon’s latest premium hearing aids are able to experience the freedom of clear hearing again. Difficult listening situations no longer spark fear, and our clients can step out into the world with confidence.

Oticon Real

The new flagship hearing device from Oticon is called Real. We are really excited about this device as it incorporates BrainHearing Technology that Oticon are famous for. This allows your brain to function at its best by giving you all the sounds you should hear to communicate and join in with life. Even better, is that the Real hearing aid sounds so natural with cutting edge amplification that makes sound natural whilst also reducing things like wind noise, sudden sharp sounds and microphone handling sounds.

Kelly’s Dad wears Oticon Real and says it is one of the best devices he has ever worn, especially in group noisy situations. This is because this hearing aid can recognise all types of sound and all the fine nuances to bring speech clarity even clearer than any previous Oticon technology.

This hearing aid can connect to Apple and Android phones for streaming of music and phone calls direct to the hearing aids. It can also connect to a TV adapter which can allow you to hear the Tv with perfect clarity whilst other people watching can control their volume setting independent to yours. This makes for happy family viewing with no more arguments over the volume of the TV.
Available in rechargeable or battery-operated models, there is a Real for everyone.

Oticon Own

The Oticon Own custom-made in-the-ear hearing aids have been developed for optimal comfort, discretion, and exceptional sound. The Own range offers styles from completely invisible-in-the-canal devices to powerful easy to manage full concha style hearing aids in a range of skin tones. To make a custom hearing aid, the Audiologist will take an ear mould impression using quick setting putty, so the fit and shape of the aid suits the ear perfectly.

The Own hearing devices also feature BrainHearing technology , which supports the way our brain makes sense of sound. Own uses a feature called the Deep Neural Network which mimics how the brain works and has been trained with 12 million real-life sound scenes so it can recognise all sounds in fine detail. This makes the Own range a great choice for those who want to enjoy the benefits of better hearing without a visible hearing aid or anything behind their ear.

What is the Oticon BrainHearingTM philosophy

Ease of use and comfort are always at the top of Oticon’s list when designing their hearing devices. They have put resources into researching and understanding how the brain makes sense of sound so they can help people more effectively with their hearing aids and accessories. They also understand how to protect the brain from risks related to untreated hearing loss, such as cognitive decline. Their mission doesn’t stop at making a great product, they hope to change the way people view hearing devices as more than a simple piece of technology. To them, hearing aids represent freedom.

BrainHearing technology scans your surroundings 100 times per second to keep up with the nerve firing in your brain and provides you with the following:

The focus is on helping your brain understand the sounds you hear, not just making sounds louder. This technology supports your brain and puts less strain on it with a natural and pleasant ‘soundscape’. This means you are less tired and can just enjoy easy listening. Even their smallest device, the invisible-in-the-canal device is custom made to hide inside the ear whilst giving you constant access to 360 degree sound. Oticon technology in the media

Oticon’s BrainHearing philosophy has been highlighted in local news media.

In a feature on Channel 7 (Adelaide), Oticon’s BrainHearing philosophy was discussed along with the benefits of treating hearing loss. The news segment explained to viewers how new developments in hearing health research show that the brain should be provided with access to the full sound scene in order to work optimally.

Oticon Hearing Aids and Tinnitus

Tinnitus can be a ringing, buzzing, hissing or roaring sound, and an estimation of 80% of people who suffer from tinnitus also suffer from hearing loss.

Listening to sounds can be a helpful tool for managing tinnitus. Adding pleasant sounds to the sounds you hear already can reduce the impact of tinnitus by helping you move your attention towards the sounds you want to hear, rather than the sound in your head. Compare it to listening to a single violin in a room. Alone, you can only focus on the violin, but if you add a symphony orchestra to the violin, it becomes less distinct and part of the overall sound.

Oticon hearing aids offer a tinnitus solution for Adelaide patients using ocean sounds to provide relief from tinnitus and calm anxiety or nervousness associated with it. Oticon also has a free App called Oticon Tinnitus Sound which helps you with breathing, soothing sounds and other useful tips for easing your tinnitus interference.

If you suspect you are suffering from tinnitus, or hearing loss associated with tinnitus, book now, or call us on 8331 8047 to arrange a FREE hearing check. For more information please visit our tinnitus treatment page.

Not only does Oticon More deliver 30% more sound to the brain than Oticon Opn S™, but Oticon More delivers more sound to the brain that’s much clearer.

CROS

A CROS device enables people with single-sided deafness to hear and engage in their world like never before. The CROS device sends a wireless signal from the hearing aid on the poorer ear to the receiver on your better ear to achieve a fuller, more inclusive sound. This works even if you have absolutely no hearing on your bad side and will allow you to join in the conversation on both sides of you at a dinner table. Available in battery operated or rechargeable solution.

Opn S

Oticon Opn S gives you clear, stable, feedback-free sound. A ground-breaking feature stops feedback even before it occurs, so you can give someone you love a tight hug knowing those whistling sounds are a thing of the past. With streaming and Bluetooth technology, Opn S hearing aids can stream directly into your ears from a wide range of compatible smartphones, TVs and computers. They are also available in the miniRITE R style so you can enjoy long-lasting rechargeable battery life when you make use of Oticon’s charger with state-of-the-art lithium-ion technology.

Opn

Clients who use the Oticon Opn hearing aids enjoy the benefits of an all-in-one aid that sits comfortably in inside the ear canal. Clients can enjoy listening to more than one person speaking at a time, while the advanced noise reduction system helps reduce their listening effort. Oticon Opn gives your brain access to the relevant sounds around you, putting you in charge of which sounds you focus on – and not your hearing aid.

These Oticon Opn hearing aids hide in your ears and are custom-made to fit you precisely, right here in Australia. Even the smallest and discrete models offer excellent sound quality without compromise, giving clients constant access to 360-degree sound.

Xceed

Having a severe-to-profound hearing loss makes it extremely challenging when you are with a group of friends, family members or colleagues. Maybe you feel you are not really taking part in the conversations, because you are only able to talk to the person in front of you and need to rely on guessing and lip reading. If several people are talking, it becomes even harder to make sense of the conversations, and as a result you become tired.

Clients have shared that the Xceed has helped support them in situations when their hearing needs to be at its best. The devices can give you access to more clear speech than ever before. By providing the client with better speech clarity with less listening effort in noisy environments, they no longer feel left out in social situations.

Oticon Ruby

The Oticon Ruby offers fabulous sound quality in Oticon’s value range essential behind-the-ear category and is filled with great features. It is also available in a rechargeable version and the easy-to-use charger provides a full day’s charge in just a few hours. Bluetooth capabilities allow the aids to connect to a wide range of smartphones, TVs and computers. New features and feedback management systems available prevent whistling before it occurs, so you can enjoy special moments without interruptions and without drawing unnecessary attention to your hearing aids.

Oticon Siya

Oticon Siya in-the-ear hearing aids have a powerful chip inside that processes sound 50 times faster than Oticon’s previous-generation processor, Inium Sense. This enables it to deliver excellent sound quality that helps you understand speech.

Oticon Siya gives out client’s high-resolution sound, and it can capture the rich, natural details and reproduce the nuances in a comfortable way. These aids allow clients to focus on the sounds in front of them by gradually shutting out other sounds when a situation becomes very noisy. It adapts extremely quickly, helping you follow conversations in noisy environments, like a family dinner.

I put off getting hearing aids for years. I guess my hearing had been deteriorating for at least 15 years. At home, my husband would become frustrated having to repeat himself all the time or by me getting ‘the wrong end of the stick’. At work, well it was a bit of a joke – I misheard so many things my colleagues sometimes burst out laughing. In meeting, unbeknownst to me because I hadn’t heard, I was ‘dobbed in’ for all sorts of difficult tasks that no one else wanted to do. My boss thought I had ‘selective hearing.’ (Well sometimes I admit I did, but mostly I just genuinely didn’t hear). Still I put off the inevitable.

My husband and I had organised an 8 week overseas trip – the trip of a lifetime. I began to realise that I would miss out on so much if I couldn’t hear, so a few months before we were about to leave, I took the plunge. I noticed a hearing centre, ‘Hearing Sense’, on The Parade, Norwood and I made an appointment.

My appointment was with Pavel who immediately put me at ease. He tested my hearing, explained the results, took measurements and even contacted my health insurance company and they discussed with me the amount they would pay out for hearing aids. I returned after a couple of weeks to try out my aids. They are very unobtrusive, I can’t even feel them when they are in place and the very best thing is that I can hear again! I didn’t have to pay anything until I was sure they suited me but I was actually sure from the very beginning!

As I left Hearing Sense, the noise of the traffic in the street sounded so loud, I could clearly hear my feet on the pavement as I walked and the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees was wonderful! It was just amazing.

I know that I can go back to the Hearing Sense ‘family’ whenever I need to and I do drop in occasionally to pick up new batteries but mostly for a chat if they are not too busy. Pavel, his wife Kelly and the receptionist, Ashleigh are such lovely people. They really take an interest in you and make you feel that you are a friend. Just before my husband and I went on our trip, they sent us a bon voyage card and on our return, they were genuinely interested in hearing about our travels. And as for our travels – I didn’t miss hearing a thing!

I am incredibly glad I chose Hearing Sense – they have definitely changed my life for the better.
